Does Your Retirement Plan Cover the Fun Stuff and the Tough Stuff?

THE THING ABOUT HAVING MORE TIME ON OUR HANDS AS WE DO RIGHT NOW IS THAT WE HAVE TIME TO THINK ABOUT THINGS WE WERE TOO BUSY TO PONDER BEFORE.

I’m finding that many of my clients have been considering their retirement plans and estate plans with new depth and are open to making changes they were previously hesitant to make.

Now that everything has changed in our daily lives, it seems easier for people to look closely at their attachments to the way they did things before and to let go of things that do not serve their best interests.

Some are seeing fewer benefits to having two properties and having cash in hand looks much more appealing.

There is more focus on making choices that minimize uncertainty, with a stronger emphasis on clarity instead.

Perhaps it’s time for you too, to take a closer look at the less enjoyable part of retirement planning and make decisions that address the challenging issues that come with ageing.

These are not easy conversations.

It’s a lot more enjoyable to talk about where you’ll travel or how often you’ll play golf.

Have an in-depth conversation about what happens if you get sick, who will look after you when you need care, and how you will manage to live alone.

Once decisions like these are made and you have a solid plan, there’s a calm that comes with knowing that you are prepared. That peace of mind may just improve your golf swing too!
